The Elephant & Castle's Lucky 13 Recap - Mar 27th, 2015
I would like to start by thanking Jared Keeling and The Republic Parks & Rec department for again using their awesome facilities at Miller Park. Their seven year's of continued support is second to none! The 1st PDGA tournament for the Barrel of Monkey's tour 2015 is in the books. Reflecting back on the this event, I don't believe I could have asked for anything more for a season opener!
The Elephant & Castle presents: The 7th Annual Lucky 13 B Tier Co-sponsored by Innova was a huge success. This was the first year at the B Tier status moving up from the C Tier status the 6 previous years. For those of you new to the Sport/PDGA events, the differences are: money is added to th Pro payout, players receive double points toward qualification to the Disc Golf World Championships in August, and most sponsored Pros receive bonuses for top finishes. All of these tend to draw in more players. Making it a B tier was a good decision.
We had a maxed out field of 92 players. We squeezed in a ghost card to allow the 2 extra players to play. It was definitely how you want to kick off the tour! Only 2 hours after receiving/assembling the custom sparkle purple top EDGE/Innova basket, an Ace was drilled on it by Springfield's Chad Fisk (one of the most loyal players to the tour every year)! The hole measured 250' and served as the EDGE Closest To Pin contest. It featured both Innova feather banners on each side of the new custom basket. It was almost magical as this is also Lucky Hole 13 every year for the tournament. Every year we use this basket for the Ring of Fire, so Innova and EDGE were advertised very well this year.
This year's players packs were over the top thanks to some incredible sponsors. All players received a custom premium Innova disc, a custom Innova Lucky 13 hat, a shirt, and lunch was provided by Little Caesars and McAlister's Deli. Elephant & Castle and Innova were the Title Sponsors for this event. Along with the two title sponsors, we also had many others including: PSC Accounting, Larry Catt Law Office, Grass Works, Fimco, Queen City Cycles, BK Design Inc., and Little Caesars. This event also benefited by our Tour Sponsors: Millennium golf Discs, Quality Trim & Sign, Creator Designs, Prodigy Disc, NNWA, Gateway Disc Sports, EDGE, Fossa, and Auto Zone. Please visit, shop and thank any and all of these companies if you get a chance!
Over $450 was raised for EDGE in the drawing, so we are off to a great start. Along with the end of the tournament drawings, we will be selling chances to win the cool custom Purple Top Innova Pro target and it will be given away at the Finale. There will be several ways of winning chances toward taking home the basket like winning the CTP for all tour events and winning chances in games and drawings through out the season. Good Luck!
A Big congratulations to our winners, and for a full view of the standings please visit the following http://http://www.pdga.com/tour/event/20120
